Prototype Drawings for 1st Car
On our first car we had a 2-liter and duck taped 3 skewer sticks together. We hollowed out 2 markers and put them in the middle of the 2 taped sets of skewer sticks. That way the sticks could rotate. We then duck taped the marker part to the 2-liter. We then slid the cd's onto the duck taped part of the skewer sticks and made sure they were snug. If they weren't snug, we just added more duck tape to make them more snug (even broke a cd in the process of making them secure). Once the cd's were on, we attached a bubbled piece of duck tape to the top of the 2-liter. From there we blew up a balloon and would try and attach it to the car via the bubbled duck tape.
Prototype Drawing for 2nd Car
Our second car we started by putting 5 straws inside of the middle holes of the 4 cd's, to keep the wheels straight. There was a total of ten straws used for our project. Inside of one of the straws we added a skewer to each side for our wheels to end up turning when it moved. We used lots of tape and hot glue during his process. We had a total of 4 skewers used because attached to the two that were used in the straws, we glued 2 more making a rectangle shape for it to be more accurate and sturdy. Next, we connected chicken wire so it would be light, thin enough, and tall enough to hold our balloons that we attached to the that acted as the "motor". We blew up two balloons and taped them on top of the chicken wire until we released them. Once we let go of the air in the balloon, our car started moving forward.
